Contact lens maker focuses on expansion with 50 new jobs
One of Waterford's largest employers has announced a major investment plan that is expected to create 50 jobs.
Global contact lens manufacturing and eye-health company Bausch + Lomb has announced plans to invest €41m in manufacturing capacity at its Waterford facility.
The investment is expected to generate 50 jobs over the next 18 months and will significantly upgrade the capabilities of the Waterford facility.
The move comes after the company announced major cutbacks, including 200 redundancies and pay cuts of around 15pc, earlier in the year.
The company was recently taken over by Valeant Pharmaceuticals, one of the biggest global eye healthcare companies in the world.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said: "We have seen a huge effort being made by the staff there and now it is being rewarded."
