Children of Jason Corbett could be home by weekend
The family of slain Limerick man Jason Corbett hope they will be able to return from the US with his children at the weekend.
Mr Corbett's sister Tracey Lynch flew to the US with her husband David to bring Mr Corbett's body and his children back to Ireland.
The children, Jack (10) and Sarah (8), are in the care of Mr Corbett's second wife, Molly Martens Corbett, after he was killed following a domestic incident at their home last week.
She is the main suspect in the case after police in North Carolina said they are not looking for anybody outside the family home in relation to Mr Corbett's death.
A custody hearing is due to take place tomorrow and Mr Corbett's brother-in-law David Lynch said they are feeling hopeful ahead of it.
"Jason said in his will that Tracey and I are to take care of his kids should anything happen to him, so we are confident - but we are in a different country," he said.
"We have agreed as a family that we are not having Jason's funeral until the kids are able to come home."
Mr Corbett's body was due to be flown home from North Carolina last night with the help of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and was due to arrive in Dublin this morning.
