The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy will carry out a post mortem tomorrow morning on the remains of a man discovered in a disused property in Drogheda yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised by a passer-by who came upon the body at about 4 o’clock and then ran across the road to members of Drogheda fire service.

The fire service rang gardai and the body was found in a shed behind a derelict bungalow.

It’s understood there were signs of decomposition and gardai requested the State Pathologist to attend the scene.

Garda Superintendent Gerry Smith, Drogheda said that the result of the post mortem by Dr Cassidy “will determine the next steps.” It is taking place in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The property has been used in the past for anti-social behaviour and drug paraphernalia has been found there.

Yesterday afternoon gardai in Drogheda issued an appeal for information for local man Stephen O’Callaghan (37) who was reported missing last week.
