Army Bomb Disposal Team defuses explosive device in Santry

A suspected improvised explosive device was made safe by the Army today.

Following a request from the gardaí, an Army Bomb Disposal Team was ordered to investigate a suspect device in Santry, Dublin 9. The team arrived on scene at 10.10am.

The team set up a cordon and evacuated nearby buildings.

An improvised explosive device was identified, made safe and was removed for further examination.

Members of the public who encounter suspicious items, or hazardous substances, have been advised to maintain a safe distance and inform An Garda Síochána.
