Newest Lotto winners plan Rolls Royce trip to collect €10.5m windfall
THE country's newest millionaire couple spent the weekend apart before making the journey in a Rolls Royce tomorrow to collect their €10.5m windfall from Lotto headquarters.
Carol Loran and Kevin Geoghegan will travel in style to Dublin in the luxury car, courtesy of Carol's employer, bookies Boylesports, while friends and family follow in a specially hired bus.
The lucky couple, who began dating a few weeks ago, split a €4 ticket last Tuesday which netted them a cool €5.25m each.
Yesterday, Kevin was relaxing at home before meeting his brother and a friend "for a few beers" while Carol was having a "quiet" weekend with her own family.
Kevin (46) said Carol (39) was "doing her own thing".
And when Carol was asked if the windfall had sealed the couple's future together, she said it was "early days".
In any case, the couple plan to reunite tomorrow for the important trip to Lotto headquarters, with Carol's employer laying on a big bash back in the Mullingar Boylesports base to celebrate her good fortune.
Kevin said that while he did not expect his life to change dramatically as a result of the win, he hoped that it would allow him to ensure a financially secure future for his three children, Fergal (14), Lisa (11) and Ciaran (8). He plans to put some money into a trust fund for them.
He also plans to give some of the money to each of his four brothers and five sisters – and, of course, he will take good care of his 77-year-old mother Jane.
Carol has also indicated her children will benefit from her win. She plans to book the first ever family holiday for her and her boys, Anthony (24), Ian (22), Jamie (19) Christopher (16) and Ethan (8).
"This is life-changing for myself and my children. We have never been on a family holiday so that is one thing we will do now," she said.
The pair have both decided to remain at work to give themselves time to consider what to do with their newfound fortune.
Kevin has been working as a painter with Trend Technologies for 27 years and Carol works with Boylesports bookies in Mullingar town.
