New online bookshop opened

The Irish Independent today launches an online book service, offering unbeatable value on all the books reviewed or featured in the paper.

The Books Pages in today's 'Review' section of the paper carry details of how to order each book reviewed in the paper, either through the website www.independentbooks.ie or by calling (01) 405 9100 (Monday to Saturday inclusive, 9am-5pm).

One example is 'Elegy for April', the new thriller by Booker-winning author John Banville, writing under his pen name Benjamin Black (see 'Review' Page 18). This hardback is being sold by most Irish bookshops at €22.45, plus €4 post and packaging if bought online. It is offered to readers today for €18.99, with free post and packing. This is a saving of €7.46 for anyone buying online.

The new service is being offered by Independent Newspapers in association with Kennys of Galway, the most experienced online bookseller in Ireland. Through the Irish Independent website, Kennys also offers more than five million books with free post and packaging worldwide -- one of the biggest selections on offer from any bookseller.
