New luxury hotel to create 100 jobs

ONE HUNDRED jobs are to be created with the opening of a new luxury hotel in Dublin next year.

The Marker will be located in the long-empty hotel building on Grand Canal Square in the capital's docklands.

The six-floor, 187-bedroom hotel is due to open early next year and will be part of the Leading Hotels of the World group, which includes the Ritz in London.

Meanwhile, over 140 jobs are to be created in a €15.5m investment by the seafood processing industry. A total of 21 companies based in Wexford, Dublin, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Louth and Kerry are set to create 142 jobs by 2015. The investment is supported by €3.2m in grants.

It is also understood that Intel is set to boost its graduate recruitment programme after it emerged that its Leixlip plant will produce its next generation of chips. The computer chip giant is likely to take on around 100 graduates a year with Maths, Science and Engineering degrees.
