New editor to focus on 'Late Late'
RTE'S new entertainment commissioning editor for television Bill Malone is expected to focus on revamping 'The Late Late Show', writes Ken Sweeney.
Sources say that key to the 40-year-old securing the new position was his success as a producer on the flagship show while Pat Kenny was the presenter.
Although host Ryan Tubridy held on to his audience this season, the series was panned for items including dog weddings and the soft interview given to singer Ronan Keating.
"The big priority for RTE at the moment is to get 'The Late Late Show' back on track," an RTE insider told the Irish Independent.
Mr Malone, a former 'Prime Time' producer who has also worked extensively across RTE's entertainment output, said: "I am eagerly looking forward to the challenge ahead."
