Nation's favourite mammy pops in to cheer up young patients
Christmas came early to Crumlin Children's Hospital after TV sensation Brendan O'Carroll popped in to spread some Yuletide cheer among its young patients.
The 'Mrs Brown's Boys' creator posed for selfies, sang Christmas carols and dished out hugs to delighted youngsters as he took part in the annual Celebrity Ward Walk.
Now in its 12th year, Brendan flew home specially from his bolt-hole in Florida to attend the heart-warming event with his wife Jenny and his sister Eilish.
"We've been here since the start of it. It's very much part of our Christmas. We wouldn't miss it for the world," he said.
He was joined by his comedian co-stars Rory Cowan and Paddy Houlihan alongside singer Brian McFadden, RTÉ presenter Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh and racing legend Ruby Walsh.
Model Rosanna Davison was there with her famous father Chris de Burgh, who made his debut at the event, having just flown home from touring.
"This is my first time - I think Rosanna has been 11 or 12 times. I think she missed one because she was away," he said.
"It's brilliant. All of us who have children are terrified they will get sick and would have to spend Christmas in a hospital like this.
"It's very tough on the parents and the kids."
