The crew of the Rescue 116 helicopter, coast guard volunteer Caitríona Lucas and slain gardaí Tony Golden and Adrian Donohoe are to be remembered in a musical tribute next month.

Volunteers with the Lifeboats service, An Garda Síochána, the Dublin Fire Brigade and a dozen other front-line emergency responders banded together in front of the famous Campanile bell tower at Trinity College yesterday to launch the Emergency Services Weekend, from September 8-10, celebrating the brave men and women who have devoted their lives to saving others.

Highlights include a concert at the Pro Cathedral honouring those who died in the line of duty and a parade followed by a meet-and-greet session with first responders at Trinity College.
