Music awards off as Meteor pulls out
A major music awards event has been scrapped after the sponsors pulled out just two months before it was due to be staged.
But mobile phone firm Meteor, which sponsored the event, denied that lack of funds were to blame.
"There are just so many elements to it, the venue, format. It's a big production. It's not a case of costs," a spokesman said.
A joint statement issued by Meteor and co-sponsors MCD said: "After 10 great rockin' years, capturing thousands of music memories and raising over €1m for charities, the organisers have decided to take a break this year."
But whether the awards will ever be staged again remains a mystery.
No other sponsor has been lined up to take over the reins.
