Motorists urged to 'slow down' as weather warnings hit parts of the country

There are weather warnings in place around the country, sparking warnings for motorists to slow down.

In Cork and Kerry there is a status orange weather warning in place until tomorrow with up to 70mm of rainfall expected.

Meanwhile in Galway, Mayo and Sligo there is a weather warning in place, with rain of up to 40mm expected.

Motorists are urged to slow down and increase their braking distance.

The M7 is moving slowly according to Dublin City Council's Traffic Management Centre.

Traffic is moving quite well nationally but road users have been advised by the AA of some roadworks in place around the country which are expected to cause delays for commuters:

In Donegal there are roadworks taking place on the N56 Link Rd at Kiltoy, Letterkenny (at the old Unifi Factory) until Wednesday June 7. A minor diversion is in place for traffic towards Gortlee.

In Cavan stop/go system is in place on the N3 Cavan/Dublin Rd between Lavey and Cavan Town until Saturday June 7 and delays are expected.

A stop/go system is in place on the N11 Wexford/Dublin Rd between Enniscorthy and Ferns just north of the Scarawalsh R/A for works until June, Friday 16 at 7pm.

Meanwhile, Dublin Fire Brigade has also taken to Twitter to urge drivers to be cautious on the roads this morning.

In Dublin delays have been reported on both the N3 and the Quays:

A collision has been cleared from the Bond Road has been cleared but there may be delays in the area.
