Motorcyclist dies after colliding with wall this evening

A motorcyclist has died following a single vehicle collision in Co Kerry.

A male driver, aged in his mid-30s, is believed to have lost control of his motorbike and careered into a wall.

The casualty was the only passenger on the bike and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The incident occurred on the R551 near Ballyheigue, Co Kerry at approximately 6.45pm this evening.

He was pronounced dead the scene, and a post mortem is expected to take place today at University Hospital Kerry in Tralee.

The road was temporarily closed following the incident, but has since re-opened.

Officers at Listowel garda station are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
