Mothers and toddlers protest for the breast at Facebook headquarters
As protesters go they were a mild bunch. But the 40 or so mothers and their children who picketed Facebook's European headquarters in Dublin yesterday were determined not to be ignored.
With toddlers and babies in tow, mothers, and some fathers, protested for two hours outside Facebook's office against what they say is the company's censorship of breastfeeding mothers.
"They have removed pictures and suspended accounts belonging to mothers who have put up breastfeeding pictures," Jolene Keating of Friends of Breastfeeding said.
The company later released a statement defending its actions.
"Some photos which contain a fully exposed breast do violate our terms and may be removed if they are reported to us," Facebook said.
