Mother injured in hit-and-run starts to recover after waking from coma
A mother of one who was left in a coma after an apparent hit-and-run is now out of intensive care and showing early signs of recovery.
Siobhan Geraghty (35) was seriously injured near her home in Clonsilla, Dublin, after taking a taxi home from a night out on May 8.
She was rushed to Connolly Hospital but later moved to Beaumont Hospital, where she was put in an induced coma after doctors had to work to relieve the pressure from the swelling on her brain.
She suffered from three separate injuries.
Doctors last week began waking Siobhan and her brother has now said she is conscious and out of immediate danger.
But he has also said her recovery will be slow and it could be some time before they know if Siobhan will suffer any long-term effects. "It is a long road ahead," Senan Geraghty told the Irish Independent.
