A MOTHER and daughter who were the subject of a child rescue alert have been found safe and well after the mother sought medical attention.

The Child Rescue Ireland (CRI) alert was issued last night after gardai became "extremely concerned" for the welfare of three-year-old Saoirse Carr, who was believed to be with her mother, Rachel McDonald Carr, (45). They had been last been seen at their home at Holburn Hill, Belturbet, Co Cavan around 12:30pm yesterday.

A garda spokesman said Ms Carr has "medical issues that we're concerned about".

However, the alert was called off shortly before 9pm last night when Ms Carr sought medical attention and the pair were found safe and well near their home in Co Cavan.
