More sunshine set to kick in

Colin Whelan

IT'S finally heating up. The best of the weather is expected today with forecasters predicting highs of 23 degrees for most of the country.

Blue skies and sunshine are set to continue until at the least the end of the weekend.

Yesterday saw temperatures reach highs of 22 degrees and, although there is a possibility of showers tomorrow, it will be generally dry until Sunday.

Forecaster Klara Finkele said: "The high pressure will give the majority of the country settled conditions and consistent temperatures in the twenties for at least the next week," .

Our picture by Martin Nolan shows Gavin Crosby (3) enjoying the sunshine at Donabate beach, Co Dublin, yesterday.
