More snow and ice on way, predicts postman

THE postman who accurately forecasted a white Christmas says there is no end in sight to the current chilly conditions.

Postman and part-time weather expert Michael Gallagher announced last month a big freeze was on the way.

And the 61-year-old from Glenfin, Co Donegal, says he does not foresee the snow and ice melting away any time soon.

Speaking as he negotiated the treacherous Bluestack Mountains on his daily postal rounds yesterday, he said: "I have seen nothing that would indicate a change. The orange sky is a snow sign. Two weeks before Christmas I saw that and I can't see any change. There's no indication of it.

"It is very tiresome when you are driving around in it but when you go into the mountains it is beautiful."
