Missing teenager's family `distraught'

A DISTRAUGHT family is appealing for any information about its teenage son who has been missing for over a week.Dark-haired Sean Ryan (17) disappeared from the family home at Ardmore Avenue, Downpatrick, Co Down, and was seen in the Galway area last Wednesday.

Last Saturday a member of the public told gardai a teenager in a distressed state was in Ennistymon Co Clare.

Gardai subsequently spoke to Sean who said ``nothing was wrong.''

However, his parents, brothers and sisters are becoming increasingly anxious about his whereabouts, and have appealed to the public for any information about his whereabouts.

Sean's father Gerry said last night: ``We are aware of the pressure he is under, but we understand it and just want him to contact us and come home''.

Sean, who is 5' 7'' is of medium build with short thick brown hair. He speaks with a soft Northern accent and has a mole on his left cheek. He was clean shaven when he left home, but his family believe he may now have grown a beard.

When he left home he was wearing a brown corduroy jacket with a fur collar, either blue or brown jeans and black CAT boots.

Sean, who is studying for his A levels, was due to return to school last week. He had a summer job and his family say he may have some money with him. He was believed to be heading for Cork when he left Ennistymon or Liscannor.
