Missing kayaker found safe
A KAYAKER who had been missing for almost five days has turned up safe, and wondering what all the fuss was about.
A full-scale search was launched last weekend after the the French national's car was found at Rossaveal, Connemara.
The man had put to sea last Friday in his kayak and the alarm was raised when he failed to return.
Yesterday morning, the RNLI Aran lifeboat and Irish Coastguard Sikorsky helicopter joined the North Aran Coastguard Unit in a search off the three Aran islands.
Blissfully unaware of the fact he was the centre of the extensive operation, the visiting kayaker was found relaxing on a beach north of Kilronan, Inis Mor, yesterday morning.
He travelled to the island in his sea-going kayak and decided to spend a few days on Inis Mor before returning to his car at Rossaveal on the mainland.
