ALLEGATIONS of professional misconduct and poor professional practice against a doctor have been dropped after the doctor agreed to submit herself to a professional competence scheme.
Dr Aoife Kavanagh had faced more than 26 allegations in relation to her treatment of patients in the K-Doc clinic in Co Kildare between 2005 and 2010.
Dr Kavanagh had denied the allegations.
Yesterday, on the third day of the hearing, the fitness-to-practise committee agreed that Dr Kavanagh can be referred to a professional competence scheme. Under this scheme, a team of medical and non-medical practitioners will assess the doctor's practices and question colleagues and patients, before setting out a series of actions which the doctor will have to undertake.
