Minister pays warm tribute to farm journalist
AGRICULTURE Minister Simon Coveney has led tributes to former agricultural journalist Sean Mac Connell, who died suddenly yesterday at the age of 66.
Mr Mac Connell was agriculture correspondent with the 'Irish Times' until his retirement last year and prior to that he was with the 'Irish Press' and various local papers in a journalistic career spanning over 45 years.
Mr Coveney said: "He was a constant at every agricultural event, and will be sorely missed by all members of the greater agriculture family."
Mr Mac Connell came from a very musical Co Fermanagh family and his brothers Cormac, Cathal and Mickey are highly regarded in Irish music circles.
He is survived by his wife Pat, children Eoghan, Siobhan and Kate and grandchildren.
