Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan
In an article on September 30, entitled "None of us has a right to live without boundaries", it was implied that the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan, had potentially acted outside of his remit as a public representative.
Following a review of further facts available, it is clear that the Minister made a representation on behalf of one constituent who had concerns about a family, (one member of which had a history of anti-social incidents) which had been proposed for housing near that constituent's home.
It is now clear Mr Hogan was acting within his remit as a public representative and his action was not predicated on any issue of ethnicity. We apologise for any contrary impression that may have been conveyed in our article.
