HEALTH Minister Dr James Reilly has denied any impropriety in a supporter of his owning the site in his constituency where a controversial health centre will be built

Dr Reilly’s defence of his position came in the wake of Irish Independent revelations this morning on the ownership of the site and how the minister also used a property on the Balbriggan site as a general election base.

“Any contention that there is anything remotely inappropriate is utterly wrong,” he said.

Dr Reilly also said he knew the owner of the property well.

“I know Seamus Murphy, of course I do. He has been a member of Fine Gael for 40 years,” he said.

The Health Minister again insisted Balbriggan was in need of a primary care centre and said he did not know why it was excluded from former junior minister Roisin Shortall’s original list.
