THERE was no morning lie-in for parents yesterday as hundreds of excited kids flocked to the Irish premiere of animated film 'Cars 2'.

Mini movie fans surged into the Savoy cinema on Dublin's O'Connell Street shortly after 10am, after organisers opened the doors early thanks to a sudden downpour outside.

Among those eager for a first glimpse of the latest adventures of Lightning McQueen were Rocco and Jay, the four-year-old twins of Westlife's Nicky Byrne and Georgina Ahern, right.

"They're very excited. They were watching the first 'Cars' film yesterday and they have their own toy cars with them," said Georgina.

Also at the premiere was the Sea Scouts group from Dollymount in Dublin. The industrious youngsters built a go-cart in honour of their animated heroes.

"We pushed it down a hill but I wouldn't do a long journey in it," laughed their scout leader, Maria McNally.
