Michael Denieffe's farewell to INM
Colleagues past and present paid tribute to legendary newspaper executive Michael Denieffe as he retired as Managing Editor at Independent News & Media (INM) on Friday.
Mr Denieffe, a native of Kildare, enjoyed a stellar career with the organisation filling key executive roles in a number of group titles including stints on the Sunday Independent, 'Irish Independent', and 'The Herald' where he served as Editor.
He then became Group Managing Editor.
Mr Denieffe, a passionate follower of Kildare GAA, helped oversee many of the key developments in INM.
He oversaw the first introduction of new technology in the INM print titles and has been a key figure in the development of the organisation's highly successful online operations.
Editor-in-Chief Stephen Rae said: "As Managing Editor Michael has been a rock of sense - and embodied the sense of collegiality which is so important on the editorial floor."
Michael said: "My genuine regret in finally calling it a day after such a long and fruitful career is tempered by the fact that INM is now positioned to further consolidate its market position."
