Memories: Emma's special book for her children
CervicalCheck campaigner Emma Mhic Mhathúna (37) worked tirelessly in the last weeks of her life on a special 'memory book' for her five young children.
Emma's family have revealed the private book was compiled of photographs, letters, tributes, press cuttings and mementos of Emma's life - but especially how she had fearlessly campaigned for justice.
In a moving gesture, press photographers who covered many of the events in the final months of Emma's life are to donate portfolios of photos for the special 'memory book'.
Her aim was for each of her five children, but particularly the youngest, to have a detailed account.
"Emma's biggest fear was that her youngest children might not remember her as the years went by," one family member explained. "The book was her idea of having something that her children could refer to for the rest of their lives about their mother and the type of courageous person she was."
Before her death, Emma had also commissioned five miniature busts of herself as special mementos for each of her five children so that they would have unique remembrances of her.
