Meet Wilson and Jay-Z, the real rugby 'wags'
ONE is a worse snorer than Cian Healy and has a spoof twitter account, while the other likes chomping on Ray-Bans, make-up brushes and credit cards.
They are the rugby mutts -- the canine best friends of Ireland and Leinster rugby heroes Jamie Heaslip and Gordon D'Arcy.
Both spoke to 'Lineout' magazine, published with the Irish Independent tomorrow, about the importance of dogs in their lives.
Jamie loves big dogs, but for now he's devoting all his energies to Jay-Z, a two-year-old bulldog.
"I live in a cottage with a small garden so that wouldn't be fair on a bigger dog," he said.
"Anyway, Jay-Z more than keeps me occupied. He doesn't like to be told what to do, and he's a worse snorer than my Leinster team-mate Cian Healy."
In recent months Jay-Z has had to get used to a new resident, as Jamie's girlfriend Sheena O'Buachalla has joined the family. Fortunately, she's as much a fan of the dog as he is.
Meanwhile, newlyweds Gordon and his wife, model Aoife Cogan, share their home with 55kg Bernese mountain dog Wilson.
"Go for a walk with Wilson and your spirits lift straight away," said Gordon.
"You might be down in the dumps after a bad defeat or a poor performance, but just being around Wilson helps take your mind off things.
"We've learned not to leave anything lying around. Luckily, he doesn't eat any of this stuff, he just mangles anything he can get hold of."
Dog and owner are smitten with each other as the 'Lineout' images by photographer Ronan Lang show.
"It was Aoife who chose Wilson," said Gordon. "We knew he would be a big dog, but I have to admit we didn't realise quite how big he'd get."
Meanwhile, Gordon and Jamie have now been joined in the dog-obsessed ranks by Cian Healy.
The Dublin prop, who already has a menagerie in his home including turtles, rabbits and reptiles, has just taken ownership of a bulldog pup called Ted.
