McKenna to contest Euro elections as independent
Former Green Party MEP Patricia McKenna is apparently set to contest the forthcoming European elections as an independent candidate.
Ms McKenna, who was highly critical of the Green Party's decision to enter government with Fianna Fail, appears set to seek election in the Dublin constituency.
Sources in the Greens say ex-MEP has given an interview with Hot Press confirming her plans.
However, it is unclear if she has officially resigned from the party.
Meanwhile, Meath East TD Thomas Byrne is believed to be coming under pressure to run for Fianna Fail alongside Liam Aylward in the Ireland East constituency.
Mr Aylward is strong in the south of the constituency, while Mr Byrne's core support is in the north.
