McGrath's wish comes true
Finian McGrath certainly got his wish to be involved in nominating a presidential candidate.
McGrath spent months trying to find a candidate for Independents to weigh in behind, asking everybody bar Bosco and St Patrick to run, but to no avail.
Last weekend, he weighed in behind Martin McGuinness and Sinn Féin -- just before David Norris got back in the game, prompting a flurry of nominations.
McGrath took a lot of flak for his decision, most notably a savaging on the Joe Duffy Show.
The indefatigable Independent soldiered on when he copped a slagging in the Dáil.
But he laughed it off.
"I'm always with the people," he declared.
Well, the Sinn Féin people anyway.
