McDaid unrepentant over cancer vaccine vote
Donegal TD Jim McDaid says he would have voted against the Government in this week's Dail vote on the cervical cancer vaccination programme if such a move would have reversed Mary Harney's decision to scrap the scheme.
Mr McDaid was expelled from the Fianna Fail parliamentary party on Tuesday night after abstaining from the vote on a Fine Gael motion calling for the reversal of the decision.
Despite his move, the Government still defeated the motion by 76 votes to 67.
Dr McDaid has now said he would have voted in favour of the motion if this would have forced Ms Harney to do a u-turn.
