A fire which broke out at a SuperValu in Dublin may have been caused by fuel lighters igniting.

It appears that the lighters were left on top of a desk which had a heater underneath it.

A spokesperson from Dublin Fire Brigade said this could have caused the fuel lighters to combust and is being investigated as the possible cause of the fire.

The blaze has since been extinguished and no injuries have been reported.

It broke out at around 11am this morning at SuperValu in Fortunestown Shopping Centre, Tallaght.

The shopping centre was immediately evacuated.

Eight fire units attended the scene.

While significant damage has been done, firefighters managed to prevent the fire from getting through the roof.

Dublin Fire Brigade had completely dealt with the scene by approximately 3pm.
