The victim, Maurice Isaacson (66), was hit when a man wearing a balaclava ran into a pub on Cork Street near Dolphin’s Barn in Dublin 8 at about 11:30pm.
He was hit in the calf when the masked man opened fire with a hand gun.

He was due to be operated on to remove the bullet from his leg.
Gardai say the gunman escape.
The scene was today being preserved for a technical examination.
