Mary marks school's big day

A 20-yeaR campaign for a new school building drew to a close yesterday with the turning of the first sod by Education Minister Mary Coughlan, writes Anita Guidera.

The new 3,500sqm VEC school will replace the existing 70-year-old building. But the 325 students and 35 staff at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar, Co Donegal, will have to wait another 14 months for the €8m project to be completed.

Describing it as a landmark day, the Tanaiste said the project was "a very welcome and timely boost for the local economy".
