Martin and Miriam's rematch is a success

A REMATCH between Miriam O'Callaghan and Martin McGuinness proved a hit with TV viewers, writes Ken Sweeney.

The first in a new series of 'Saturday Night With Miriam' was watched by an average viewership figure of 467,100 last Saturday.

"I'm happy about how the interview went," Miriam O'Callaghan told the Irish Independent.

It was the pair's first meeting since they clashed in October 2011, when the presenter quizzed him about how he reconciled his religious beliefs with "the murder of so many people".

The Sinn Fein MP said the question was a disgrace and requested a private meeting with the 51-year-old.

Speaking for the first time about that meeting, Ms O'Callaghan said: "It was just me and him. Obviously he was very annoyed with me on the question"..
