Marble City 7s here we come

A FORMER Irish rugby international is appealing to fans to get behind the squad again after their crushing defeat to Scotland in their Six Nations campaign.

Rugby legend Mick Galwey said Ireland "needs to win" their next game against France.

"We're lucky to be playing at home, it'll be nice to be back at the Aviva but it's going to be a huge game. The French team need to win, and Ireland need to win, so they're both under pressure."

Galwey said it was "important" for the Irish public to get behind the players again. He also said it was not the time to think about changing coaches – and is backing Declan Kidney to stay on.

The former Ireland captain attended the launch of the Marble City 7s on Wednesday night. The new tournament is due to take place in Kilkenny this June.

Ireland flanker Sean O'Brien, who also attended, admitted "we let ourselves down" when asked about the team's poor performance in Edinburgh.
