A MANHUNT is underway for two men involved in an armed cash-in-transit robbery.

Dozens of gardai and the garda helicopter are involved in the hunt for the men following a robbery which occurred at an ATM in Clarehall, north Dublin, this morning.

The incident unfolded at a shopping centre in the Dublin suburb shortly before 10.50am when an armed man threatened a security guard and made off with a cash box.

The suspect sped off in a car and gardai were immediately notified.

Just minutes later officers discovered a getaway car abandoned at Cara Park in nearby Darndale.

At lunchtime a manhunt was continuing for two men who were attempting to escape through fields.

Dozens of gardai were involved in the operation and the garda helicopter was also deployed.

A source said: “This is at a very early stage but all the indications are that this is a local crew.”

It is not yet known how much cash was in the stolen box.
