Mandela family told to turn off machine

Nelson Mandela is in a "permanent vegetative state" and his family have been advised by doctors to switch off his life-support machine, court papers have alleged.

Medics treating the former South African president have said the family should consider letting him go rather than "prolonging his suffering".

However, his wife, Grace Machel, has claimed he is "fine" and not in too much pain.
