Lesley-Anne McKeown

A MAN has been seriously injured after a petrol bomb attack in Co Derry.

Police said two youths smashed the window of a house at Ben Varden Avenue in Derry at about 11.10pm last night and threw a lit petrol bomb into the property.

It struck the 45-year-old victim who had to be rescued from the house by two neighbours.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition has been described as serious but stable.

The two suspects who were dressed in grey hooded tops and used scarves to cover their faces are believed to have made off in the direction of Dervock Place.

A spokesman for the PSNI appealed for any witnesses to come forward with information.
