Man killed in capital accident

A 19-year-old man has been killed in a road accident in Dublin city.

The man was on a motorcycle which crashed into a parked car on Ballybough Road on the north side of the capital at about 1.50pm.

The man was rushed to the nearby Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardai said two people who were in the parked car were not injured.

Elsewhere, a f ive-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a collision on the M6 motorway at Newford, Athenry, Co Galway a week ago has died.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident which occurred at about 7pm last Wednesday.

All three vehicles were travelling west towards Galway when the accident took place.

The girl had been in a critical condition since the crash and transferred to Temple Street Hospital where she died today.

Gardai have renewed their appeal for information about the circumstances of the crash.
