Man killed after falling out the back of moving car

Gardai are investigating after a man fell out of the back of a car travelling on the N69 and was hit by another car.

The 31-year-old man is believed to have been travelling in a BMW or Toyota Avensis on the N69, when he fell out of the back of the car, which left the scene.

He was then hit by another car travelling in the same direction. This car remained at the scene on the Askeaton side of Kildimo. 

The 31-year-old was pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene. 

Gardai in Newcastle West are investigating and this stretch of road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.

The road is expected to remain closed until this afternoon.

Gardai has asked for  information relating to a 99 WH registration light blue car, possibly a Toyota Avensis or a BMW, to contact Newcastle West garda station on 069 20650.
