The sex beast who was jailed on Monday for 13 years after he raped a 73-year-old woman was once a local celebrity after scooping nearly €32,000 on Winning Streak.

Anthony Hussey (26) was sentenced for horrifically raping the elderly woman in her home in September 2014.

However, less than two years previously, the rapist was the talk of his home village in Sneem, Co Kerry, after he appeared on RTE's Winning Streak game show at the end of 2012.

Today the Herald can reveal that Hussey scooped a whopping €31,600 on the game show in December 2012.

Dressed in a shirt and grey trousers, Hussey expressed his delight when he accepted his prize winnings alongside presenters Marty Whelan and Geri Maye.

Known as 'Anto' in his Kerry village, the rapist was celebrating his 21st birthday in a local bar where he worked when he discovered his named had been pulled from a drum to appear on the hit show.

His lucky scratch card was bought by his mother in a shop in Castleisland.

Hussey told the show's presenters that he didn't know he was selected for the show until he received dozens of phone calls with the news.

The vile rapist said on TV that he enjoyed sports and was involved in the local GAA and soccer clubs in Kerry.

He described how he travelled to Poland to watch the Boys in Green.

Hussey also revealed how he previously scooped the jackpot in the local GAA lotto and other small amounts - but nothing close to the €31,600 he won on the TV show.

The Sneem man said that he hoped to take a holiday and change his car with the winnings.

The cheerful Kerry man, of Ardshillane, Sneem, committed the terrifying crime less than two years later on September 20, 2014.

Wearing a balaclava and dressed in dark clothing, Hussey entered the 73-year-old's bedroom and viciously raped and anally raped her.

Afterwards he told her: "You enjoyed that, didn't you?" - He then covered her with a duvet and left her home.

In a victim impact statement, the woman revealed she sobbed uncontrollably, "broken, terrorised, waiting for my death".

"I can't stop screaming inside. My heart is bleeding with shock... I feel ripped open stood naked to the core of my being, reduced to nothing," the woman said.

"This phantom out of the darkness, standing in front of me, demanding sex. I had no option but to fight.

"I was too weak or clumsy to defend myself, which seemed to amuse him. He started mocking me.

"How can he behave with such brutality? A woman three times his age."
