Man in 60s dies after his van collides with a lorry

A man has died after his van collided with an articulated lorry.

The man, aged in his 60s, whose name has not been released, was brought to Kerry University Hospital after the van he was driving collided with the truck at around 1pm yesterday. He later died of his injuries.

The accident occurred at Ballyduff, Knocknagoshel, in Co Kerry, on the N21 Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road. The truck driver was uninjured.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian remained in a serious condition in hospital last night after being struck by a car in west Dublin.

The incident occurred on the Ninth Lock Road, in Clondalkin, at about 8.15am yesterday.

The man (31) was taken to Tallaght Hospital where his condition was described as serious. The occupants of the car were uninjured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, or motorists who may have captured the incident on a dash camera, to come forward.
