Man hospitalised with stab wounds to his face after serious assault

Gardaí are investigating a serious assault which left a man hospitalised with stab wounds to his face.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was attacked by a number of people on the Main Street, Leixlip, Co Kildare shortly after midnight last night.

He was stabbed in the face and was rushed to a Dublin hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The serious assault is being investigated by gardai at Leixlip and no arrests have yet been made.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Main St, Leixlip Co Kildare on the 14th May 2019 shortly after midnight.

"A man in his 40s was allegedly assaulted by a number of other persons. The injured party received apparent stab wounds to his face and was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
