Man held over river body murder

A man in his 20s was arrested today over the murder of a man whose body washed up on the banks of the River Shannon.

Francis Greene was found dead at Portdrine near Cratloe, Co Clare this month after disappearing last November.

A man in his 20s was detained in the Limerick area over the killing.

Gardai said he was taken to Henry Street Garda Station for questioning under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Mr Greene, who was originally from Kilteely in Co Limerick, was last seen near his home at Hartstonge in Limerick city centre on the evening of November 28.
