Man held after shots fired outside house

A MAN has been arrested after three gunshots were fired when a crowd of people surrounded a home that had its windows smashed.

Gardai in Tullamore, Co Offaly, are investigating the shooting, which is believed to be connected to an earlier row that broke out amongst extended relations of a Traveller family at a christening.

As tensions heightened amongst the Travelling members, a group of people made their way to Tullamore, to a home at Davitt Street, that evening.

The house was subsequently, attacked at around 7.45pm. It is understood that a man emerged on to the street and is suspected to have fired three shots into the air.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
