Man found near rubbish skip was assaulted before death
GARDAI are treating death of a man whose body was found in a refuse chute yesterday evening as manslaughter.
The body of the adult male, who was in his 60s, was found shortly before 6pm by the Garden City complex on Bachelor's Quay in Cork.
It is understood to have been spotted underneath a chute and beside a large rubbish skip.
"As a result of enquiries to date and following the completion of the post mortem by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Bolster, Gardai are now satisfied the deceased was subject to an assault prior to his death," a spokesman said.
"Although progress has been made in relation to the identification of the male Gardai are not in a position to formally identify him and wish to seek the assistance of the public.
The male is described as being in his 60’s, of slight build, approximately 5’5’’ to 5’6’’ tall and with white/grey hair and moustache. He was wearing a beige fleece top, black t- shirt and beige trousers.
