GARDAI investigating the death of a man in a house fire early yesterday are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The man has been named locally as James Cahillane (58) a tradesman who lived alone at Ardraw, Beaufort, Co Kerry.
The three-bedroom bungalow was completely engulfed in flames by the time emergency services arrived.
Three units of the fire service were at the scene for close on six hours. Fire officers confirmed the man was found in the hallway of the house.
The man's remains were removed to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee where a post mortem examination is being carried out.
The fire occurred just 12 hours after four fire brigade units battled another serious blaze at a farmyard on the outskirts of Killarney town, after dozens of tyres caught fire on a silage pit at the rear of a family home.
