A man has been charged in connection with a cannabis seizure worth €1.1m.

Gardaí and Revenue made the seizure in Co Kildare on Wednesday.

The 55kg haul came as part of “an intelligence-led operation targeting persons suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the Kildare area”, a garda spokesperson said.

The joint operation was conducted by personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB).

Gardaí arrested one man following the seizure. He has now been charged and is due in court this morning.

"Gardaí have charged the man (aged in his 40s) who was arrested following a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue Customs Service yesterday, Wednesday 15th March 2023,” a garda spokesperson said.

“He is due to appear before Naas District Court this morning.”
