Man discovered in trailer at Dublin postal centre is arrested for immigration offence

A man who was found inside a trailer at a Dublin Post Centre yesterday had arrived in Ireland in the compartment through Dublin Port, it has emerged.

It is understood that the trailer he was hidden in was then driven from the port to Knockmitten Postal Centre in Dublin 12.

The man was discovered at around 3pm, gardaí were notified and he was arrested.

Sources say that he is likely to be deported from the country.

The nationality and age of the man has not been disclosed.

The case is being investigated by the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) and the man is being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing in into what they described as an "immigration offence”.
